Kanye West Needs Diaper Change after Kimmel Satirical Jab

The first rule of thumb for anyone determined to achieve a measure of fame or notoriety is to grow a thick skin. A VERY thick skin. Everything you say and do will become public fodder, and when it’s done in jest, you must let it slide down your back and right onto the floor. Otherwise you come off looking like an insecure, obnoxious and somewhat petty.

Enter Kanye West and a satirical piece done by comedian/Host Jimmy Kimmel. West was interviewed and said some things that left themselves wide open for satire and comment. Kimmel is a comic, and has a forum from which to spread his brand of satire. He did just that with West’s interview, and personally I found it funny and harmless. West, as you’ll see, did not.

West used social media, specifically Twitter, to lash out at Kimmel in a nasty and very profane manner. If this was staged, it’s not very funny and still sends a negative image after using so many insulting and venomous words in West’s reply to Kimmel. If it’s real, then West has some serious image issues. The man is talented and a success. There is no need for him to take to any form of media and spew this type of venom. His “empire” is big enough that something like this has no real impact. Yet his ego swallowed him whole and made him lash out. The public display perfectly fits being insecure, obnoxious and very petty.  It also shows a very concerning and dark side of West, and makes one wonder what his reaction might be if this was a personal attack on him or his family. It wasn’t, but there is some cause for pause here.

Knowing the Kanye West audience, this may not make a single penny’s worth of dent to his image. But it remains a cautionary tale. And it makes him look like an immature jerk, at best.

As I pointed out, if you’re famous, this comes with the territory. But if you’re just an average person, the lesson is basically the same. People will make fun of you in social media, at the workplace, even on You Tube. Let it roll off your back as if it never happened. If forced to confront it, do so with humor and let it go. The less fuss you make about it, the shorter time it will be remembered and the less damage it will do to your image and reputation.

INTELLIGENCE: PEOPLE WILL MAKE FUN OF YOU, WHETHER SERIOUSLY OR COMPLETELY IN JEST AND A SPIRIT OF FUN. AS LONG AS IT’S NOT VIOLENT, BREAKS A LAW OR INFERS SERIOUS HARM TO YOU, LET IT SLIDE. BE THE BIGGER PERSON, AND IN THE END THE ONE MAKING FUN OF YOU WILL BE THE ONE TO MAKE FUN OF.

Jimmy Kimmel and Kanye West either are engaged in a bitter feud or a heck of a parody.

The notoriously hot headed rapper ranted on Twitter about a skit from Kimmel’s show earlier in the week, which mocked a strange interview West did with BBC Radio 1.

The comedian played a clip on his show in which children read a transcript of West’s BBC interview, and it seems the rapper had a rather childish response.

Kimmel’s monologue Thursday night was devoted to discussing what he called a “very angry phone call” he received from West about an hour and a half before taping ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Kimmel said that West called to complain about a the comedy skit. According to Kimmel, West told him to apologize publicly and that his life would be better if he did.

Kimmel then cited tweets posted Thursday on West’s official Twitter site that forcefully take Kimmel to task, some using profanity.

But Kimmel assured his followers that the somewhat funny West mess wasn’t something he cooked up.

Requests for comment made early Friday to representatives for Kimmel in Los Angeles and West in New York weren’t immediately returned.
